Suggestion User report

Hello I recently thought of some thing new.

Sometimes someone joins a community and has something wrong with their profile

I.E. An inappropriate username or picture something in their bio etc…

Well I was thinking what if when your browsing someone’s profile then they can see a button called report user profile then when they press it it shows up with the following options and the screen is titled “select part of user profile to report” then it has options,

Profile Picture Use this option to report the user’s profile picture.

Bio Use this option to report a part of the user’s Bio. [then it allows you to highlight different parts of it to report. so on and so forth.

then after a report is submitted the Moderator and Administrator team get a new flag on the flag’s page from there they can accept or deny the report like any other flag.

If it is just normally accepted it would remove the flagged area.

I.e if Having a roblox related Profile picture was not allowed on my forum then someone reports them and it got accepted discourse would then remove the picture off their account and send them a Private Message saying.

“Good day this is an automated message from [forum name] to tell you that your profile picture has been removed do to an accepted flag on your account as it breaks the forum guideline(s).

You may reply to this message to ask our Moderators what the issue was.”

Admins may also set settings on the admin dash such as if it recives x amount of flags auto remove it or if x trust level flags the profile automatically Hide the profile and send a pm to the user saying.
”Hello an aspect of your profile was flagged by “x” trust level which automatically hid your profile until staff take action you can still see your profile and so can Staff but the rest of the community can not.

then the flag goes as usual.

Depending on how many users/new user signups you have and how many moderators/admins, this could quickly become unmanageable.

There is also the potential for abuse by other users.

Let’s say user X happens not to like user Y’s profile name and reports it but actually there is nothing wrong with the name.

The moderators will spend more time dealing with these flags rather than staying focused on more problematic ones.

Theoretically, if there was something wrong with the user profile it could be reported with a flag, like Something Else, if they post something.

There might be other ways to achieve what you want like Watched Words for user names, though I suspect there would be limitations to that approach.

Profile pictures/avatars, not sure how that could be dealt with.

Right that does make sense.
Watch words are already insteaded on non allowed usernames but suppose’s its in their bio?

Plus as there is the potential abuse right but suppose after each flag it has you type some more details about why its wrong that can help fix that issue

like the illegal and something else flag’s do
