"There is one unread topic remaining" - there is not!

When reading the last of the unread topics, at the bottom we see

  • There is 1 unread topic remaining

when there is not, because we just finished reading it.

Perhaps when reading a topic which was unread, the counter needs to be one less?

Edit: I see a long history of reports and some alleged fixes nearby, so perhaps this should be merged into that. Possibly there have been bugs in the past, possibly there is at least one more bug.

Edit: I see now that here, at least in one circumstance, I saw the ‘1 unread’ notification and it changed as I was looking at it. Which is perhaps as it should be. But that’s not happening on my forum - version 2026.7.3
