I know there is a setting in my interface preferences, but somehow it doesn’t work for me:
It says “saved changes” but the value in the database is still “true”, so after a reload it shows as enabled again.

Indeed, modifyClass is not ideal, especially in a core plugin.
The best thing would be to introduce a new valueTransformer in core, so that we have a ‘supported’ way to do this kind of thing.
