URLs followed by a period and a non whitespace category are broken

If a link that is inline oneboxed is followed by a period, any characters other than a whitespace character that immediately follow the period are added to the inline onebox’s path (here is an example of that https://meta.discourse.org/tags.) Clicking the link will return the not-found page.

I’m seeing this behaviour using the latest Chrome browser on Ubuntu.

It’s tricky, because

https://meta.discourse.org/tags.)

is a perfectly valid URL. If we were to automatically strip the . and/or the ), then it might break links for sites which are legitimately using those characters in their URLs :thinking:
