Why don't category and channels links open in new tab?

AI-generated summary

In a support thread titled ‘Why don’t category and channels links open in new tab?’, Picho_Pelis initially mentions solving an unrelated issue by deleting channels, then asks why links open in the same tab instead of a new one. NateDhaliwal advises creating separate topics for different questions. chapoi clarifies that links typically open in the same tab by default and encourages limiting topics to one subject. Lilly explains users can change this behavior in their interface preferences at my/preferences/interface, noting the default is set to same-tab for accessibility (e.g., screen readers). Moin adds that forum admins can globally override this via the site setting ‘Default other external links in new tab’. Picho_Pelis confirms they want outgoing links to open in a new tab, indicating Lilly’s solution addresses their need.

Bro, I solved that by deleting the channels and renaming. I have another question: when I click on the links, they don’t open in another tab, but in the same one?

You should make new topics for different questions.

How did you solve this when before you said the delete button wasn’t available?

Anyway, glad your issue is solved. Please mark my answer as the solution so this topic can close.

As NateDhaliwal said, the idea is keep topics limited to 1 subject. I don’t know what “the links” are you refer to, we have many on this forum, but I can tell you that the standard behaviour of links is indeed to open in the same tab.

you can change this behavior in interface settings of user preferences my/preferences/interface

the default global behaviour is to open links in same tab to allow people with screen-reader applications to use our forums.

You can also change the default for users in your forum with the Default other external links in new tab site setting

That’s what I want, for outgoing links to open in another tab.
