Write out smarter dates with AI

We recently launched a new feature for Helper called Smart dates, which helps you turn any text related to time and date into Discourse-friendly timezone-supported dates.

Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Testing with a typo in “tomorrow” to see if it triggers a date suggestion (it does not, but correct the word), and using a celebration day’s name. Which is wrongfully set to 2023 :jack_o_lantern:

Output:

I’d set a third reading for 2025-01-06T23:00:00Z after Labour Day also.

There seems to be some trouble with certain public holidays and/or merging multiple pieces of information to output a unique date. It’s not uncommon to phrase dates like “X days/weeks/months after…”.

Most dates here shouldn’t be “smartized”, and no one were. It could have suggested an edit for “last year”, but I was purposely trying to mess with the AI suggestion in this message, can’t blame the AI suggestion if I’m purposely writing confusing sentences. Nonetheless, the output (no suggestion) is good here.

This one’s perfect :v:

Yikes, hopefully we don’t send you back in time. Good note to always check the outputs

I do think some of the cases such as public holidays or specific special dates, it can calculate them wrong at times
