Search for latest posts in a thread containing a phrase no longer possible?
tqFan reported that searching for the latest posts containing a specific phrase in a thread no longer seems to be possible. The user used to press Enter to go to the Fullscreen Search Window and click Latest to achieve this. However, this functionality appears to be lost.
pmusaraj explained that the quick search panel has a limit of 5 results, but clicking the “more” button should load all the results from that topic. However, tqFan countered that the “more” button does not show all the results and disappears after a certain point.
pmusaraj revealed that there is a hard limit of 500 results in the full page search. tqFan pointed out that the limit is actually 50 results, not 500.
pmusaraj suggested scrolling to the bottom of the page to show more results, but tqFan reported that this does not work.
pmusaraj finally suggested using topic:ID in the full page search to get up to 500 results. This solution should address the issue reported by tqFan.
Or at least it seems so to me this function has been lost but perhaps I don’t see it.
I used to do it by pressing Enter (to go to Fullscreen Search Window) and click Latest.
Focus on a thread was preserved.
Going to Advanced Search loses focus on this particular thread so that doesn’t help.
Maybe that’s the bug and how I should have titled this report - Advanced Search loses focus on a thread.
When you are searching the posts of a topic, if there are more than 5 results, the more button will load all the results from that topic in the quick search panel.
It won’t. It doesn’t show them all. After clicking it once it shows the results till like 300rd post. But there’s like 6000 posts in the thread and far more results. After that the More button disappears.
But it’s not an issue for me because I prefer Full Search Big Window anyway and will use that when the forum I use is updated with your fix.
