The user Bathinda is having trouble embedding BitChute videos on their Discourse site, even after whitelisting the URL. They’ve tried adding the domain to the allowed iframe source domain prefixes and posting the embedding code, but nothing shows up. JammyDodger suggests adding a slash to the end of the setting value, but this doesn’t work. Bathinda tries both the HTML and JS versions of the embedding code, but still can’t get it to work.
However, when Bathinda copies JammyDodger’s exact link and pastes it into the allowed frames setting, it works.
Bathinda then asks how to allow all video streaming services to be embedded, and JammyDodger suggests that the setting doesn’t support a wildcard and that each service needs to be added individually. However, Bathinda notes that the * wildcard is used by default for OneBox iframes and asks if there’s an alternative setting to allow any website to be embedded.
If I post the sharing link directly, then it’s OneBoxed.
Can someone suggest some video sharing service, that lets me embed ‘Uncensored’ videos onto my disco site? (PeerTube needs a linux server, which I can’t provide right now)
Hmm. FWIW They seem to be working fine for me. I added https://www.bitchute.com/ to allowed frames and copied an embed link from a random video on the site and it successfully displayed in a post.
I tried both, one by one.
Exactly same result. Nothing shows in the Preview window at all. As if I’ve not typed/pasted anything in the composer window.
Ah!! It worked. But only when I exactly copied your link and pasted there. (Earlier also I was copying pasting from the Url bar only, didn’t type manually)
And also, more importantly: While experimenting earlier, I removed all the links from allowed list and only inputted an asterisk *
Now it seems to have spoiled all my old embeddings of/from other video streaming services like youtbe?
Why, haven’t I inputted the * correctly?
