AI Usage page is awesome 😍

AI-generated summary

Users are enthusiastically praising the new AI Usage page, with Don calling it “awesome” and “sooo useful.” hiddenseal asks for clarification on the difference between “summarize” and “gists” in reports, to which sam explains that “summarize” provides full summaries while “gists” are short summaries — illustrated with a screenshot. sam also acknowledges the team is behind on documentation. hiddenseal notes they can see the “Expanded with AI summaries” option on meta but not on their own site, despite having permissions set; sam confirms it’s currently a hidden site setting and will be addressed soon. hiddenseal mentions gists have consumed ~30% of tokens since mid-November, assuming they were already live. Jagster speculates gists originate from the /hot page. Finally, Saif shares that documentation is now available at https://meta.discourse.org/t/summarize-gists/340269, addressing sam’s earlier comment.

Wooo this is awesome :tada:  Thanks a lot to building it, sooo useful. Love it!

Agree!

Quick question, since we’re here: what is the difference between summarize and gists in the reports?

Summarize is for full summaries, gist is for the short ones, eg these:

@Saif we are so behind on documentation now

is there a setting to enable showing these? I see this button on meta

but not on my website. I have everyone/tl0 in ai summary gists allowed groups

It’s a hidden site setting at the moment, hold tight we will sort it out this week

no problem, I saw that gists accounted for ~30% of the tokens charged and has been consuming since mid-November, so I presumed it’s already available

It comes from /hot, I reckon.
