See this screenshot. Why only Rohini gets her username + user-ID mentioned, automatically, but not Pankaj Grover, nor Nishu Chhabra (they only get their usernames mentioned)!! Why what could possibly be wrong with their usernames/userids?
The above is just an example. Otherwise there are many other users who get their UserIDs mentioned, while others only get their usernames mentioned.
TLDR; the @username is suppressed if it’s “similar” (e.g. Name Surname with a Name_Surname username).
Thanks very much for this much clarification. I’ve understood the implications up to some extent.
Though, I think, there should be some clarification somewhere in the plugin settings (in some tooltips or in the labels/notes accompanying the setting-boxes) for this, visibly odd, behaviour.
There should be at least some setting in Plugin settings to control this behaviour.
Sad that I’m not knowledable enough to modify this myself.
