Hello I recently updated my discourse and for a while after it got pretty laggy
AI-generated summary
User ice.d reported experiencing lag after updating their Discourse forum to the latest version, noting the update prompt appears daily. Bruce5051 requested more specifics like version numbers and server specs, which ice.d couldn’t provide. merefield suggested the lag may stem from a global post rebake triggered by the update, advising to check Sidekiq queues via https://yourdomain.tld/sidekiq (accessible only to admins). ice.d initially misunderstood and tried searching for “sidekiq” in the search bar, but merefield clarified it’s a web path. Ed_S corroborated the issue, noting a peak of 1000 jobs in Sidekiq, and recommended waiting a few hours for the backlog to clear. He also advised notifying users before future updates due to potential downtime. A graph attached by Ed_S visually illustrates a spike in activity around June 25th, aligning with the reported lag period. The consensus is that the lag is temporary and tied to background job processing post-update.
Hello @ice.d,
More specific detail would be helpful.
- Upgraded from
old version(i.e. actual version number) tonew version(i.e. actual version number) - Amount of memory and CPU cores
- Any underlying detail, etc
Sometimes an upgrade can trigger a global Post rebake. Look at your sidekiq queues.
This will eventually settle down once the backlog is dealt with.
Hello Bruce to be more specific recently my forum told me that my discourse needed updates which it seems to do everyday so I updated it to the newest version from the one before and for about 2-3 hours I experienced lags in the forum I’m not sure my memory amounts or cpu
How do I see that??
/sidekiq
I put that in the search bar not finding anything
It’s a web address not a search term! ![]()
(You need to be admin to see it)
Oh
thanks
Just to be clear that’s:
https://yourdomain.tld/sidekiq
ie sidekiq is the path within your discourse.
