In a Support thread titled “Need help trying to fix a INP issue,” David_Ghost reported a persistent mobile INP problem where Google showed 547 ms, identifying the search button as the primary culprit with 392 ms David_Ghost. Despite switching from the FKB Pro - Social theme to the default theme and disabling most plugins except Google One Tap Login/Signup, the issue persisted initially David_Ghost. pmusaraj requested further details and asked which specific changes were effective pmusaraj.
David_Ghost later updated that INP dropped to 227 ms after 28 days of testing, which included moving the VPS closer to users David_Ghost. In a final update, INP reached 173 ms. David_Ghost concluded that the most significant improvement came from disabling unofficial plugins and themes, noting that previous attempts with different VPS locations, providers, and Bunny CDN configurations yielded no results David_Ghost.
Can you post more details from the inspector/debugging? Also, which theme are you using, is it a custom one or one of the themes provided by Discourse core?
I’m coming back to say that my INP dropped from 547 to 227 after the 28 days period. The changes I made include switching back to the default theme (foundation), disabling some plugins and components, and moving the VPS to a country closer to my users.
Cool, thanks for following up. Do you have a sense on whether one of those steps help more than the others? Switching theme vs disabling plugins/components vs moving closer to your users?
Another update: I’m currently at 173 inp now. I think what really helped the most was disabling unofficial plugins and themes. I had already done other tests using different VPS locations and providers. I even tried using Bunny CDN and tested the full-site CDN configuration for a month, but nothing worked.
