Here on Meta I noticed when you read a topic and choose New Topics vs unread it is showing new and unread totaled together see SS this is on both Meta Branded and Foundation. [Screenshot_20260613-014322] [Screenshot_20260613-014430] I haven’t observed this in my instances but am currently running an update.

[image] Introducing the unified new view for the topic list megaphoneAnnouncements Following on from The "new new" has been enabled on Meta , we are now introducing an upcoming change to make the unified new view the default for the topic list on all Discourse sites. What is unified new? This change modifies the New tab on the topic list to have subtabs for Topics (topics that are new to the user), Replies (unread topics), and All (a combination of the two): [image] What is unified new replacing? The old default is to have a separate /new and /unread route with associated …

So these Themes are not updated then Terribl change as now I don’t have the simple option to checkout new topics using the New topics route. :man_facepalming: Ah I see with top menu nav. But then there is no need to have at bottom of the topic read an option to view new or unread. These links should still behave as expected and open the page with the New Topics listed vs the new merged view. I myself have never needed to or been asked about new vs unread. Always seemed pretty straight forward at least on English sites

[image] Heliosurge: now I don’t have the simple option to checkout new topics using the New topics route. Does https://meta.discourse.org/new?subset=topics provide what you want?

Nope same behaviour with the merged new and unread [Screenshot_20260613-022857] If using the last ni it should open with the 16 topics tab open. Ah see it is open. But seems less intuitive likely due to old behaviour with New showing 16 vs 265 Maybe a Visual tweak. So that when Topics tab in focus New says “New Topics” and under the All tab shows “All (265)”

I am confused. You said you cannot check new topics on the /new route anymore. What is the difference between the prior new and the new new filrered by topics? I understand your point that the text still needs adjustment, but I think it might be a little early for that because the upcoming change is still in alpha.

Not Visually Clear The top heading New should change to New Topics (16) and when showing All tab should say “New (265)” So maybe something like New (285) [All]. Topics(16) (All is open New Topics (16) All (285). [Topics] Topics tab open Or .. New All (285) Topics (16) When I chose New Topics at the end of topic I get All instead of New Topics opened. Your link for new topics actually does more of what is expected with the Topic bottom NAV expected behaviour of New Topics link vs clicking on Unread
