snakeninny noticed that their CDN links changed from HTTP to HTTPS after an upgrade. Their CDN ISP claims it was a change made by Discourse. However, mpalmer suggested checking the “use HTTPS” site setting, which was not enabled.
snakeninny and Fer_Nando are experiencing the same issue, where images are being forced to HTTPS, causing problems with browsers not displaying images without a valid SSL certificate.
michaeld questioned the issue, but Fer_Nando and snakeninny explained that it causes problems with image display in browsers like Chrome and Safari.
sam suggested checking the DISCOURSE_CDN_URL setting, which was set to a protocol-relative URL (//cdn.domaincname.com) by Fer_Nando. sam advised changing the setting to http://cdn.domaincname.com to prevent Discourse from picking HTTPS by default.
I have no idea when this happened but I guess it was after some upgrade, all uploaded images were no longer http but https. I’ve talked to my CDN ISP but they said it was discourse that made the change.
I maked free cert in cloundfront, this solve my problem but other admins of discourse dont have an option for disable https in images when enable the cdn option, this is a small bug.
