What did you edit app.yml with?
It shouldn’t have any tabs in it.
If you find vi too difficult to use try a different editor, nano is pretty simple.
to install it:
sudo apt-get install nano
then, to edit app.yml
sudo nano /var/discourse/containers/app.yml
