This is somewhat possible now using the pipe | as a separator. If you copy and paste dog|cat|monkey|bear into a tag input box it should recognise them as separate tags. 
(it doesn’t work if you manually type it in there though).
But, just to add, there’s also the bulk upload option in the tag wrench that may be of some use as well, depending on your work flow.
