In a restricted forum currently any moderator is responsible and able to approve new users.

Please add an option to select a group of users as user administrators.

Only these users shoud be

  • messaged about pending approvals (A)
  • allowed to show email-addresses (B)
  • able to see and approve membership requests (C)

At least in our case, (A+B) is more important compared to (C).

Implementation wise, it might be cheaper to restrict user administration to the intersection of this group and moderators.

Would they be given the default moderator permissions as well?

Currently, I would not be in favor for or against giving default moderator permissions to this group.

Nevertheless, regarding security concerns, it’s probably easier to implement restrictions than additional permissions. I will change the feature title to “Add an option to restrict user administration to a subgroup of moderators”.
