Popular videos, GIFs, and jokes will be more visual and video-heavy than text. For example, what can I add besides the built-in plugins? I’d love to hear your suggestions for a novice Discourse user.

For videos, IIRC there is native embed of them through oneboxes.

As I use and develop the forum, I’ll be able to see my needs. I might ask for help from time to time. I’d be very grateful if you could offer any suggestions.
I suggest that you start with the defaults and see what actual problems you have that need to be addressed. No one can guess what your users might need that’s different.
What happens when you create a “visual and video-heavy” post? Is there something that could make it better??
