This is good. Would it be possible to change the grey smiley that represents “More…”?

To me, it’s not clear at all. I would think it somehow describes the emojis to the left of it. The one in chat that has 3 emojis together would be good. Thanks for considering this. I’m sure I read a comment about it somewhere but can’t find it now.

Also, it’s odd that the count for normal heart likes appears in one place, but the count for emojis (together with hearts in that case) appears elsewhere.

I’d also prefer a different symbol to match the chat one.

We often mark features as experimental when they are new.

New things are more likely to change. For example, maybe we will change the icon based on this early feedback.

New things are more likely to have bugs we don’t know about, just because we less experience running them in production, particularly with a variety of sites.

That’s the gist of what we’re trying to communicate with that label.

In addition to what Dave posted above, we also marked this experimental because of this:

This is considered a disabled by default experimental feature for now, admins can enable
at their own discretion, as there is not currently a way to limit which reactions can be used here, we do not really have capacity to go into this work right now.

So if you wanted to say remove certain reactions from the list but also have this feature turned on, that is not possible right now.

I need to make a correction here. Turns out…this is possible! The core emoji_deny_list setting works for this case. Though, it also does prevent usage of the emoji elsewhere, including shortcodes like :joy: .

Now that this is active on our forum, our members are enjoying using a wide variety of emojis to react.

I’m finding that showing only the 3 most popular ones before you click it is quite limiting.

Can we have a setting please to show more at a time?

Are you talking the experience with chat, or the new experimental feature of allowing unlimited choice with the reactions plugin?

I totally agree if you mean chat, just 3 is really limiting, and quite annoying.

The plugin already gives full control over this for posts (albeit static).

Ah, much I understand now! I thought you meant when you go to add an emoji on someone’s posts, which is what this topic is focussed on.

Agree, it would be nice to show more in the preview if space allows. This might be better as a separate topic in UX, tagged reactions, eh?
