I had a go at implementing a v1 of this. The google API is not hugely flexible in terms of formatting, but this is what I’ve come up with:

How have you installed Discourse? Using the standard self-hosting instructions?
If so, all you need to do is update the plugin by visiting /admin/upgrade. The google chat provider will then be available in your site settings.
