We use Semrush’s Site Audit to detect SEO issues, we’ve a Discourse forum, and Semrush detected that “images don’t have alt attributes”.
How a user can add an HTML image alt attribute to their profile picture, and how we as admin can update user’s alt attributes?
Not every single image on a forum needs an alt attribute (such as purely decorative images, which can have an empty alt attribute alt=""
).
I think the best practice is to have meaningful alt text for images that contribute to the content/context of the page.
I honestly have not checked this out. I’m assuming it would be missing on smaller, generic images. Will have a look and maybe correct myself. Lol
