Best practices for setting up the staff like weight

In Discourse, there is a setting: staff like weight

It makes likes from mods/admins more important, i.e. weight more.

I assume it affects user / topic / post ranking.

The default value is 3. Now, is there any best practices for this weight depending on:

  • the community size
  • the average daily likes from regular users
  • the total number of topics / messages

Any ideas?

Our site is internal to our organization. We started out with the default setting.

I keep a test account that rarely/never logs in so I can see what comes through in the summary/digest emails. After a while, I got a sense that my likes were having too much influence on what showed up there. At that point I set it to 1, so staff have no more weight than others.
