Can admins obtain the version number of their discourse engine?

I am the lead admin (of the openmod forum) and would like to know the version number of the discourse engine in use. For the purpose of checking against announced features and fixes.

This information was/is apparently available via the Admin section:

But I cannot find this information anywhere on my (presumably current) release (hosted by Communiteq in the Netherlands). Am I missing something? And also to note several historical threads on this forum on the general theme of obtaining version information as an admin (my use‑case) and as a registered user. TIA.

Look for <meta name="generator" content="Discourse *.*.* - https://github.com/discourse/discourse version there’s version commit code: d82220fc72a51aedd85e37180cdacea3c8a4a836

Thanks @eisammy, that is a hash embedded in the source  – which has some use‑cases.

The screenshot above shows the dot‑separated version string built into the Admin dashboard — which is more what I had in mind. Was that screenshot a mockup? Or do I need to update my Admin layout somehow? Or is that display coming in a future release?

At Communiteq hosting, we suppress the version number in the Discourse dashboard, since the “you updated recently” and “please update!” messages tend to lead to a lot of (unnecessary) support questions. (I think CDCK hosting suppresses it too).

Instead, you can find the version number of your forum software in our control panel.

And you could also mark the actual solution as a solution, because now showed solution together your question is you telling there is a solution :joy:
