Change "new topic" text for specific category/s?

Hi, has anyone been able to change the “new topic” button text for specific category/s?

I found a thread from 2015 going over this but it seems the solution in that thread no longer works.

It’s possible now with Customize new topic button text based on category or tag theme component.
