I created a branch with Mastodon and some other sites that are relevant to my community. Being able to add their social links to their profiles is important to them - I really hope this can be fixed.
I’d be interested in this but unless there is sign of addressing the Ember 5 warnings, I’m just standing by.
I made a PR to modernize the component. ![]()
Later, I might try another PR to change the settings so you can create your own link (instead of forking the component).
Thanks so much! Does this solve the Ember 5 issue?
EDIT: Thanks to @weallwegot , it has been merged now!
@sok777, try to update the component and let us know if it works now.
Sure, yes. ![]()

If you want, in waiting for this PR to be merged, you can test it:
URL: https://github.com/Arkshine/discourse-social-links-clickable
Branch: modernize-component

That looks good here, yeah! Thank you very much @Arkshine! ![]()
Okay, thanks for confirming. I removed the broken tag! ![]()
works!
great job
Yep, my pink box errors have left the building, thanks for the update.
Here is a link to FA5 Twitter X icon
Iirc you will need to add it to site settings svg? Or might just work by changing in the theme component
fa-x-twitter
Edit just noticed this is for font awesome 6
I added support for X (instead of Twitter) and the temporary icon throught the PR mentioned above:
You can see it live here.
As soon as a Threads logo is available I will add Threads support, too.
Done. ![]()
Note: You will need the newest Discourse with this UX change (see also here) because I changed the X/Twitter logo back to fab-twitter:
Hey @weallwegot - great theme component! Already using on my site, and it rocks ![]()
One thing would make it better though - any chance of adding Strava as one of the supported social links?
I have installed this Components but why can’t I display the Social icon in the Author section (like the demo image)?
Seems to work ![]()
Did you setup your custom user fields with names that match the ones in the component settings that you want to use?
Has anyone figured out how to use a different color for when users opt to use dark mode?
*edit – oops, I see that users can select their own color in the preferences.
This is weird, but only admin can see the icons. I don’t believe there is a setting to specify that, but I seem to be having that issue.
Are we able to get Github icon support aswell?
