I have a server running already and I wanted to try doscourse will it run on centos 7 or would I have to wipe my server and install Ubuntu

Just checking … do you mean Discord or Discourse? Different tools

You can try this

If you use the search you will find other topics related to Centos 7

Unless you have a compelling reason to use CentOS, go with Ubuntu. Using Ubuntu will be easier since it’s what the Discourse developers use.

**mods please lock this **
I understand that but my server when I bought it was configured with centos 7 with plesk the only way to do Ubuntu will be to wipe my entire server and delete all content I have on my main site I’ll just go with a different platform.

(Jay Pfaffman) #8

Sounds like a compelling reason. There are some topics about installing Discourse with Plesk.

For $5/month, you can set up a server on something like Digital Ocean.

#9

That’s what I’m going to try and I can link my current sub domain to my digitalhosting forum right

You could also make a manual backup of your existing site if you’d like to preserve the content.

Yes. IP numbers are IP numbers. It doesn’t matter where they are.
