Creating bug reports for Discourse on Meta mentions the “bug category”, linking to https://meta.discourse.org/c/bug (twice). That page does not seem to exist any more.
Good catch. I’ve suggested an edit to that to add the category IDs at the back so it routes correctly even if it was moved as a subcategory.
The recent redesign has changed the category structure. “Bug” is now a subcategory. Links to categories that were moved no longer work. This affects not only topics here in the forum, but also, for example, on GitHub and any other sites that might link here. That is one of the downsides of such a restructuring.
Permalinks for automatic redirection, regardless of where these categories are linked, would likely be helpful. Ideally, the software would generate these automatically when a category becomes a subcategory.
That’s why I use (and hope others too) the links with the category IDs, so they still navigate correctly regardless of the name or nesting.
