A moderator, snrm, reported a frustrating issue with the “Currently Being Reviewed By” feature in Discourse’s review queue: posts are being locked to specific moderators who may not be on duty, preventing others from reviewing them. Despite attempts to disable or override this behavior, no setting was found to resolve it. The team, including mcwumbly, acknowledged the issue and noted that hugh and pento were investigating. snrm provided additional context, including a screenshot showing posts appearing as claimed without any manual assignment. pento later confirmed a fix had been deployed and asked for feedback if issues persist. The issue centered on unintended assignment/locking behavior interfering with rotating moderation teams, and the Discourse team responded promptly with a resolution.
Hi, I’m a moderator for a Discourse forum and this feature just emerged in our review queue where topics and posts are essentially assigned to someone to review. It looks like this under the post:
This is really frustrating because our team rotates moderators on a daily basis and this “currently being reviewed by” state doesn’t seem to clear or allow for overrides. This means there are often posts in our review queue that just get stuck there because those posts are reserved for a different moderator not on duty. Multiple members of the team looked to try to turn this off and couldn’t find the correct setting to make sure the “reviewed by” locking doesn’t happen. Is there any way to turn off this setting?
Thank you so much! Let me know if there is any extra context that I can give. One thing I saw that might be helpful/provide more context is the message that we get as the claimed reviewer:
