Hello, I have a question about the profile picture. Me and other users have noticed that on our forum the Custom Picture selected via the “Change your profile picture” doesn’t persist between logins. It gets uploaded and updated after upload, but if I log out and login again (login being made on another website) then the avatar/profile picture reverts back to the Gravatar one.
I’ve read this and from it I gather that it is possible to set your own custom profile picture (Selectable avatars), but is it not meant to remain set as the custom uploaded one if the user logs out of the forum?
I’m an admin and looked through the settings, under “Uploaded avatars allowed groups” we have set a group that includes everyone. Is there some other setting I need to look at in order to make this work?
Let me know if you need additional info from me. Thank you so much!
Can you check the DiscourseConnect payload in the user admin screen? If you are passing an avatar for the user, it will overwrite the avatar every time you log in, as designed.
If I uncheck this, what happens with the avatars on the forum then? Will they remain the Gravatar ones unless from now on the user goes and specifically changes it to something else?
I’d want to avoid producing a mass change to everyone’s avatars by unchecking this
Okay, I think I understand now. Just to be 100% sure, can you please confirm the following:
If this is unchecked and a user uploads their own avatar then if they logout and login again their avatar on the forum will remain the one they uploaded through the forum.
If this is unchecked now, nothing will happen to existing users, their avatar will remain the Gravatar one - as this is what’s set on our login provider.
