Custom topic fields per category or custom topic entry form per category?

Something similar has been asked several years ago and I wanted to check if there has been any progress on this.

I want to setup a peer to peer marketplace category where users can sell items to each other. While creating a topic they can specify the price and other details about the item.

I need them to mandatory follow the template while creating a topic so that all fields get filled (even better if they are searchable/filterable) like price and location.

Now this can be done by either custom topic fields or custom entry form. But I want these to be specific to a category because they make no sense on any other category.

Is this possible with an add-on or native features?

I anyway have to build a reputation system to allow users to rate each other on the topics created in this category to give market feedback rating. So maybe this will go into that backlog if not already possible.

Thank you. I had seen the templates earlier but I wont be able to make them mandatory. Nothing stops someone from skipping the template and it just increases the moderation overhead trying to police the format.

We used to use templates earlier when custom topic fields were not a feature on XenForo (and previously on VB). We can fall back but it’s a step back.

Thank you, this is perfectly on the lines I was expecting. I hope experimental doesn’t mean it’ll be rolled back, just that it will be refined.

I’ll try it out in detail and get back with feedback on the original thread.

Edit: Tried it. Loved it.

Maybe have a date picker field type as well. I can get around it by giving some drop down list of years and/or months for my purpose.
