Discourse AI - AI bot

AI plugin settings, Persona configuration

Hey, you can set your own Custom LLM using their current endpoint, api_key and tweaking the model with your options and parameters.

The initial list probably needs to be updated and it could be more intuitive for new users but you can do what you want, for sure.

Hmm, I have multiple LLM’s configured, trying to get as many of them as possible on 2.5 flash.

I don’t see any way to assign the Helper and AI bot to the Gemini Flash 2.5 LLM. Are you saying I need to go in the edit the assigned LLM (Gemini 1.5 flash) and change the key/endpoints etc to use 2.5 flash?

it’s under the personas

Thanks, yes I got to that point, I see some persons have just one option but oddly they are greyed out for all the personas. I also don’t see any configured tools under Discourse AI → Tools.

Is there a guide on how to set this up?

Yep, you can start now here:

Thanks, yes been through (and posted back) those earlier and went through them again for updates. I can’t seem to find anything in there related to the my questions above, specifically:

  1. How do I setup the AI Bot to automatically respond to posts from the OP and all users. As I understand I need to add the ā€œreadā€ tool to the persona configuration (I’m assuming the AI Helper Persona) but then there’s no tool called ā€œreadā€ and the enabled tools options is greyed out. I can’t seem to find any information about this in the links above.
  2. How do I configure AI Bot to use the Gemini 2.5 Flash model, there no specific option to assign a model for the AI Bot like there is for the personas. Do I just need to edit the currently assigned model to AI Bot and make it use 2.5 flash?

TIA

Maybe this will help you

Perfect, that was what I needed but I’ll answer my questions above for others reference if they’re just getting started.

Enable the Automation plugin first and then create an Automation using the AI Triage how to link above from Moin. Note that if you’re using the built in personas like Forum Helper then you CANNOT adjust the Enabled Tools and Forced Tools settings. If you want to customize those settings then you need to create a new/custom persona. As for the tools, read etc, these are built in tools and you don’t need to create any custom tools to access them, however, they will be available only through custom personas (build in personas will have the options greyed out).

I realized the AI Bot and Helper are two special agents which they their own assigned LLM models. If I need to change what LLM they are using I need to go into their assigned LLM’s and update the configuration directly in their respective configurations. I cannot create a custom LLM model and then reassign these two agents to use them like one can do with a personas.

Could someone help me understand the difference between the two options ?

Also, If I want to the bot to only respond

  • once per user per topic OR
  • only once per topic

is there a way to do that?
