Is there any way I can speed up the site?
Looks like you are using Top Contributors Sidebar which causes extra 6 API calls to draw the site homescreen, which can overwhelm a site that is running on the bare minimum resources like yours. I’d recommend removing it and checking if performance is any better.

I have removed it, but it still seems a bit sluggish. But it’s not too bad, I guess it’s expected for a decently sized site on such bad specs?
I’m seeing sub 200ms for topic lists and sub 400ms for topics, which is quite good performance all things considered.

FWIW my forum on a 1G RAM Digital Ocean instance is using
UNICORN_WORKERS: 2
db_shared_buffers: "128MB"
