Facebook oneboxes are rendered in German because server is in Germany

Our server is in Germany, but our forum is Greek. When a user posts a link from facebook on the forum, the onebox title and description are rendered in German.

Is there a way to circumvent this behaviour?

It sounds like you’ve described a Facebook feature. I’d guess that you need to move your server to somewhere that Facebook thinks is in Greece. There are some topics about using a proxy for such requests (I think for Twitter?). They might offer a solution.

Yeap, I know this is not Discourse’s flaw. I posted here to find out if someone else has encountered this kind of behaviour.

I found this on stack overflow, I don’t know if it is still relevant (being a bit old), but maybe there is a way to use Facebook’s API to circumvent that behaviour.

“Onebox Assistant”, crawl for those previews reliably! might be part of a solution, or a hint at one.
