Filter by group in digest preview

Continuing the discussion from “Staff” category posts showing in digest preview:

I came across this today - and it seems to me it would be very useful to be able to create a digest preview filtered by group. So you could see what would be sent out to people at trust level 1 etc. My use case for this is to identify and copy/paste recent content to include in a curated newsletter.

Cheers,

Tobias

I just thought of this idea of filtering digests by group (or username?) again and came across my own post from back in September. I have recategorized as feature and added some tags.

Besides wanting to produce curated newsletters, I often need to know how/what other people see on my site right at the moment, depending on the groups they are in, and the digest preview would be a great way to do this (short of impersonating them).

I also often am interested in manually sending reminders to individual users from time to time. Being able to generate a digest preview specifically for them to copy-paste into an email would be huge.

This could look like the mockup below. I’d be satisfied to be able to filter either by username or by one or more groups. Both options would add flexibility which I’d find useful.

The preview actually uses the logged-in user for permissions checks, which just made me realize it must be kinda useless for checking what others see.

I think the best approach would be to let admins enter a username, then use that user in the Guardian checks.

I am back to needing to set up a curated member newsletter via the digest preview. I agree with this approach of entering a username. Is there other demand for it and can it be implemented?

I’m working on this for @tobiaseigen

works perfectly, as advertised. many thanks! monthly curated newsletters, here we come!

it’s also really handy to use this feature to check on what public posts look like for members and to make fixes to title and first paragraph.
