Forum Summary Emails showing ads/weird preview text

I’m having some trouble with daily summary emails that are supposed to go out to members of our forum. Thankfully it was set to only send email notifications to staff, but we’ve been getting our daily email summaries of forum activity with preview text like “Your password has been changed” or with a header that asks if we want to upgrade to premium for a 3rd party service that I’m not even sure we’re using. What’s strange is that it’s not the same issue for every user; different people are getting different things in their email every day.

We need to start sending these daily emails out as we have quite a few members in our forum and it would likely increase our engagement, but I need to make sure that the emails are going to have the correct subject lines and not have unintended headers when we send them to customers.

Ad showing in the header for some users:

UPDATE: I found the working “your password has been changed” in the HTML and was able to change it, so that’s the fix for that.

Hi Shea, how strange! Can you provide a link to the community? Or examples of the entire emails?

Alternatively if you are a hosted customer, shoot us an email to team@discourse.org and we’ll help troubleshoot directly.

I actually think the issue is in the < img > tag that links to a 3rd party image hosting service rather than an isue with discourse itself.

That sounds much more likely!
