Guidance on Group "Interaction" settings

Are there any guides, topics, or blog posts that explain how to configure group settings (screenshot below) based on different use cases (e.g. support groups, private staff categories, community teams, interests, etc.)?

For example, this settings panel leaves a few things unclear:

I’ve searched the forum, but I’m still not sure about specific items like:

“Who can message this group?”
Does this setting allow others to send a message to the entire group (like a group DM), or does it mean users can message individual group members by manually adding them one by one?

Would appreciate any recommended reading or explanations. Just trying to configure groups in a clean, secure, none-spammy, way and also easy to use for members.

I believe this refers to the ability for users to message the whole group.
