Handling phone numbers and email addresses within public posts

I have a continual problem with people putting phone numbers and email addresses within posts. (My crowd would not be considered very tech or “forum” savvy, thus I guess this is not surprising.)

Might I inquire as to how other forum owners have addressed this issue?

Perhaps if you created a pinned topic asking users not to do this and explain why? And then to enforce it do what @mcwumbly suggested.
