Individual PM sent to entire group accidentally

To reproduce:

  1. Start typing a PM to somebody, but don’t send it.
  2. In a different tab (or window) navigate to a group you can message and click “Message”
  3. A dialog asks, “You already opened another draft in this topic. Are you sure you want to abandon it?” click “No, keep.”
  4. Note that the recipient has now changed to the group, instead of the original intended recipient of the PM.
  5. (Optional) skip step 4 and send the message, thereby embarrassing yourself in front of the whole group (in my case about 80 people), with several messages going back and forth before you figure out what is going on.

I can reproduce this here on Meta with PMs to users too, so it’s not just groups. We definitely shouldn’t be replacing the recipient when reopening the draft.

My thoughts exactly! Lol.

@nbianca is there anything we can do here to prevent this from happening?

I cannot make up for your embarrassment, but I can prevent from happening in the future.
