Intratextual search-linking to other topics

When I want to link to other pages in my forum, it’d be nice to not have to leave the current topic box that I’m writing. It’d be great to be able to use some kind of key like " #" or something and then have a intratext search box open up so I can search and link to a post. Like Facebook does or Twitter too. Does this exist as a plugin?

Something like this?

Yup. That’s kind of what I’m talking about. A dropdown @search (like is suggested in the thread) would be better. A little clunky with the multi-key hotkey, but it’s good. Is there anything stopping using some kind of single sign, like # or something?

# is already taken. If you type ?, you can see most of the existing keyboard shortcuts in Discourse. We’re quite limited in what we can use not only due to browsers and operating systems already using keyboard shortcuts, but certain symbols cause complications on international keyboards. (There’s discussion in the linked topic)

I believe @sam added a feature for this, a keyboard shortcut so you can search a bit more easily while posting.

Eg: https://meta.discourse.org/t/how-about-mentioning-topic-feature/7350/44 yeah … still works :innocent:

Agree it is a bit ninja and with no mobile analog, but at least it works today.

In addition to the keyboard option Sam suggests above, the hyperlink modal now also supports topic search.
