I noticed that when a user wants to delete his comment by clicking delete, the comments stays there for the next 24 hours or something. While I’m sure there must be a reason for that (which could be useful to know), I would like for now to just let my users to just delete their posts on the spot, if they so wish.

There’s a site setting called delete removed posts after that you can set to 0.
Posts removed by the author will be automatically deleted after (n) hours. If set to 0, posts will be deleted immediately.

It’s possible for a user to harass a user by posting a reply which is then deleted so that the evidence of the harassment is deleted.
