Is it possible to anonymize a user only within a specific thread?

In our forum, which focuses on individuals with ADHD, there is a lot of personal and private content shared. According to our rules, users do not have the ability to delete threads to preserve the content for others. However, when users express the desire, usually when leaving the forum, they can be anonymized.

Is it also possible to anonymize a user only within a specific thread? This way, the content of the thread can remain as it is, but not necessarily be attributed to a particular user? Just having an “Anon” designation within a thread?

Would changing the owner of posts to be @system or something + hiding the revision where you changed it on each post work?

Welcome! :discourse:

Have you considered using Anonymous posting? I think that would work. If you create a group just for that user they could switch between their main account and anonymous account like so:

(To exit go to the same place and there is a exit anonymous mode button)

These are the site settings:

allow anonymous posting

anonymous posting allowed groups
