Is it possible to use the subscription plugin to limit creating topics in a category to subscribers?

Is it possible to create user groups, or permissions, and enabled them via a “Subscription” using that plugin and then requiring that group/permission to post new threads in a certain category?

This is what I am trying to accomplish…

Have a “Marketplace” category, that requires a subscription in order to post new threads (stuff for sale) – but allow anyone to be able to join the discussion on any marketplace listing posts. I want to limit those who can post things for sale (requiring a paid membership) while allowing anyone to reply to the listing posts to ask questions etc.

Does the Subscription plugin accomplish this?

Yes. The subscription plugin adds users to a group

The user is also automatically added to a group of your choosing so that you can easily see which users have subscribed as well as provide gated content in categories only that group can see.

You can use that group in the category security permission allowing only members of the group to create posts, but also other groups to read and reply
