Link directly to "Post History" (edit history)?

Surprised that I couldn’t find a reference to this being asked before on meta, but is it possible to link directly to the history view of a post (ie, when you click the :pencil2: on a post and see the diff of how the post has changed).

We had some users complaining on principle about posts being edited, and would like to link them to specific examples of how posts actually are edited so they can see for themselves it’s never to change the message… Just protecting privacy, fixing broken links and other formatting…

Also, is there a way to search for posts that have been modified? If not via the regular discourse search, how about via Data Explorer?

No, that’s not possible at the current time. But you can certainly link the post and indicate which revision # you’re talking about.

I’m wondering if there was ever any movement on this?

Our use case:

  • Main Topic
    • Link to Topic 2, revision 3
    • Link to Topic 5, revision 9

For example:

  • How to make a chair: Version 1

    • How to make legs: revision 2
    • How to make seat: revision 4
    • How to make backrest: revision 5
  • How to make a chair: Version 2

    • How to make legs: revision 3
    • How to make seat: revision 9
    • How to make backrest: revision 5

The main Topic we would link to/pin would be “How to make a chair”. And each revision of that Topic would link to specific revisions of the Topics which specify the pieces of the chair

Ideally there would be some way of selecting which revision we use based on the url.
