New users who who will be visiting/using discourse based forum’s will be unfamiliar to forum’s features and functionality.
Can we have a set of topics pre-built into “meta” group available as a part of installation?
Maybe, but I want to keep that stuff to an absolute minimum. Users won’t read anything you put in front of them anyway. And the ones that do, are smart enough not to need a lot of what you would tell them anyway.
That does not mean we should not have it. I think it’s a good practice to have a decent documentation irrespective of users and their behavior.
Anyways as not many people commented on the topic or liked it, I believe I am alone on this.
So I will just develop it myself by reusing the existing content from various forums and updating it for my use.
Well, the private welcome message sent to all new users covers the kinds of essential usage tips you are talking about. Sign up at try.discourse.org to see it, or if you run a forum, edit it in admin, content, new user tips to taste.
Yup, I’ve made it that far, but I can’t find the actual definition of the new user tips anywhere (many references to them). I’m sure I’m being dense though, so thanks for letting me bother you.
