Moderators do not have access to Watched Words again

I am on 3.3.0.beta3-dev.

Our moderators have reported that they no longer have access to Watched Words, much like this previous report a few years ago:

Is this a bug? Thanks!

Ah, I think I can repro this.

We have a new admin sidebar that’s being rolled out to navigate the admin/moderator areas. If you add the moderator group to admin sidebar enabled groups they have access to Watched Words, but if they’re still on the original ‘top navigation’ style then they don’t have access to the Customize tab (even though it’s visible).

The direct link should still work if you don’t fancy swopping over to the new admin sidebar just yet /admin/customize/watched_words

That works like a charm, thank you!

Looks like even with the settings enabled here I cannot add new watched words :frowning:

Any idea how to fix this?

Hello and welcome @Paolo_Diomede

I’ve just given this a run-through, and though the UX bug in the OP is still an issue, navigating directly to /admin/customize/watched_words, or using the new admin sidebar, allows my test-moderator to access the page and add watched words as normal.

Can you give me a bit more detail about what’s not working for you?

3 posts were split to a new topic: Watched Words ‘Add’ button greyed out?

Any updates? 3.4.0.beta3-dev still has this bug.

I cannot reproduce any issue here. As a moderator I can see the watched words link in the admin sidebar, access the page, and add watched words.

I need more detail please @Teafh

Our site has not enabled the Admin sidebar.

If the new Admin sidebar has fixed this bug, when will it be the default UI/UX?

New communities are now created with the sidebar as default.

In fact we at Discourse would like to remove support of the old navigation header, due to various customizations it is taking a bit longer.

You should now be able to change the setting (admin_sidebar_enabled_groups) in your admin UI after updating your site to include DEV: Unhide admin_sidebar_enabled_groups by martin-brennan · Pull Request #30336 · discourse/discourse · GitHub . Eventually we will get rid of this and the sidebar will be the only option.
