However, if I want to set up a group where every user in that group must have their posts reviewed by a moderator, I would have to configure these groups on each category setting, and I must not forget this setting when creating new groups.
That’s true, we do have two global settings: approve_unless_allowed_groups and approve_new_topics_unless_allowed_groups , but they only serve the purpose of the Everyone except selected groups mode in existing category settings. The scenario described above—where by default everyone can post, and only after certain events occur, some people are manually set to require review—requires the mode No one except selected groups , which the current global settings cannot support.
