Unfortunately our site has had a rash of trolling lately…
Note that our community is more free form, a much different type of community than here on meta.
I was updating the FAQ to include a note about when we would ban, silence or force moderation for users, and thought that “1 approved flag for ever 1000 posts” is a pretty good threshold…
As I was going through Admin/User pages to to check on flag counts to come up with a reasonable rule, and realized that “flags given / flags received” even includes flags that are rejected and ignored…
The thing is, the trolls are often the most active with their flags, so if you were just looking at this number to get an idea of whether or not a user is bad for the community, it may be misleading to include rejected or ignored in that count… Of course it would also be strange UI if you saw the flag count for a user was zero, but you clicked though the next page and saw 100 flags…
To avoid over-complicating the UI, I would suggest the “Flags Received” count subtracts any flags that we’re explicitly “Rejected” by the moderators.
