Onebox support for all datatypes on archive.org

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around implementing onebox support for all datatypes on archive.org. sujato initially requested a feature to display multiple audio players for archive.org folders containing multiple audio files. riking suggested that a custom onebox engine is needed to handle various content types, including articles, audio, collections, and more. They provided useful notes on how to embed certain types of content and access metadata. Later, nicopace reported that archive.org video URLs are now embedded as iframe videos, although it’s unclear who or what caused the update.

Archive.org supports folders that contain multiple audio files (probably other kinds of files, I guess). When I paste the URL in Discourse, it gives me an audio player for just the first file. There doesn’t seem to be any simple way on archive.org to get individual URLs for the various files. So it’d be lovely if Discourse would add via onebox the whole set of audio players. Any ideas?

I think that archive.org needs its own onebox engine to handle all the types of content.

Would need an embedding behavior for all of the data types:

article audio collection data education etree image movies software texts web

I think we need help from someone more familiar with their stuff - e.g. what is an etree?

Did you want to elaborate here @nicopace ?

thanks @codinghorror,
I am not sure what happened, but from the time I posted it to now something happened and now archive.org video urls are now embedded as iframe videos… (as we maintain my discouse instance in between two people, someone else could have updated it, or onebox relies on external services).
Anyway, it works! thanks!
