I’ve been doing some browsing of try.discourse.org for testing issues.
I noted that the “over 1000 replies” topic says 999 in the topic list.
Further on entering the topic there was conflicting text indicating the number of replies in the summary:
Also whilst scrolled to the top three position indicator is at 2
It saying post 2 / 1000 is likely because a very small portion of the 2nd post is visible.
Added: Just tested this on various screen sizes. If you scroll down and then back up, if a post never fully leaves the view, the counter doesn’t change. I don’t see this being a bug.

This was fixed, i think that the post can be closed now.
