To combat spam, I’ve set the “approve post count” setting to 1, which requires every new user’s first post to be approved by a moderator. However, I’ve noticed a recurring issue: many users are not noticing the one-time pop-up notification that informs them their post is under review.
As a result, I’ve observed several genuine new users reposting the same content multiple times, likely out of frustration and confusion, unaware that their original post is pending approval.
While we could argue that users should pay closer attention to notifications, the reality is that people often click through pop-ups without fully reading them.
Instead of relying on a one-off dismissable notification, an improved solution would be to implement a persistent UI indicator that clearly shows the user their post was successfully submitted and is currently awaiting approval. This would reduce duplicate posts and alleviate frustration.
